I had top surgery with Dr. Walter Lin at the Buncke Clinic, and I could not be more grateful for the care, skill, and outcome. Dr. Lin is not only technically excellent, but deeply thoughtful in his approach. From the beginning, I felt listened to and respected. I gave him full artistic discretion with my chest, trusting his experience — and the result exceeded my expectations. My scars are flat, clean, symmetrical, and already healing beautifully. Even at five weeks post-op, the quality of the work is very clear. The surgical technique was meticulous, the nipple placement is natural and well-proportioned, and the overall contour looks masculine and intentional. I’ve seen many results online, and I feel extremely fortunate to have been in such skilled hands. The Buncke Clinic staff were also outstanding — professional, calm, and reassuring throughout the process. Post-op instructions were clear, conservative, and focused on long-term outcomes, which I really appreciated. This surgery was a major decision, and the recovery was real — but the quality of the surgical work made every step worth it. I would confidently recommend Dr. Lin and the Buncke Clinic to anyone considering gender-affirming chest surgery.

I worked with Dr. Lin and his staff. I had LVA surgery for lymphedema as well as an implant reduction surgery. Dr. Lin was very warm and personable and thorough in explaining all the technical details and possible outcomes in a way that was easily understood. I felt complete trust in his knowledge and skill and would highly recommend him to anyone with these issues.

If you have an HMO, avoid at all costs. This was the worse experience I have had with a front desk in my life. I came in with a hand emergency to see Dr. Lin for about 15 minutes. Before I was allowed to see him his staff at the front desk were very disorganized and required a pre-payment of $350 because I did not have my HMO referral yet given it was an emergency. The front desk (Tian) on a phone call with me which should have been recorded assured me that as soon as the referral was cleared, I would get a refund of the prepayment given my copay was only $25. She said it would take a few days. When I got the referral cleared a few days later, I called back and they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. The office manager, Colleen Fuller, was incredibly rude on the phone, indicating that 1) they never told me that and I’m lying 2) my claim was denied and Buncke was not in network and 3) they had a right to charge me $1,300 for the 15 min appointment and I should be grateful they aren’t. All of these things were false. In fact, they had just submitted the claim wrong because of their disorganization. I called my insurance many times over the course of many months to finally get this resolved - turns out, my insurance had paid Buncke in full months earlier, and they still hadn’t refunded me until I called multiple times. Do not come here - find another hand surgeon. I raised these concerns to Dr. Lin and he was initially responsive and then ignored me and deferred to his staff. Even just the front desk person who answers the phone (Vanessa) is unfriendly. I feel this office took advantage of me as a vulnerable patient, gave me some misinformation and refused to acknowledge blame. Even if I still needed to wait MONTHS for my refund, this all could have been water under the bridge if Tian admitted she was wrong, and Colleen and team apologized for the misinformation rather than gaslight me.

Dr. Walter Lin and one of his coworkers did my top surgery, I'm now 5 months post op- I could not be happier with my results!! I had a larger chest, so double incision was the only option. I'm so trilled with the shape of my chest and I'm really happy with how my nipple graphs have healed as well. I have fibromyalgia, so swelling and additional pain was inevitable, but Dr. Lin was very accommodating and did his best to prepare me for the recovery process. Their office was also very helpful with the issues I had with my insurance. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! I've never felt so at peace in body and my gender euphoria is amazing. Overall, I had an excellent experience!

Dr. Walter Lin & one of his coworkers did my top surgery, and the whole experience went better than I could have hoped - in no small part thanks to everyone working at the office. They are all absolutely wonderful, and I'd give Martha a raise if I had that sort of power. And I have to say too, Dr. Lin really has an artist's eye for the work he does. He's very passionate about the work (and making pretty impressive advancements in the field! I would have helped with his research had insurance been cooperative), and he's very very kind.
