I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Hui-Chou. She was unprofessional and quick-tempered, with a rude demeanor that felt dismissive and condescending. Her communication was poor, and she provided little to no patient education or attention to my concerns. She conducted only a minimal examination and didn’t even look at my MRI before making assumptions about my condition. On top of that, she confidently stated that a cyst was benign without running any tests, dismissing my concerns with a know-it-all attitude. It felt as though her ego took precedence over proper medical care. I would not recommend her to anyone seeking a thorough, respectful, and compassionate healthcare provider.

Dr. Hui-Chou is a fantastic and gifted surgeon and doctor. My daughter had trauma to her arm, after immediate trauma surgery(to save her life), she still could not move her arm from the elbow down or all of her fingers. We were referred to Dr. Hui-Chou, she operated on my daughter and restored ALL movement in her arm and ALL fingers. Thank you Dr. Hui-Chou.

This doctor is a disgrace to her profession and the University of Miami Hospital and Clinic. I visited her because I had a fractured finger and a torn nail, three weeks after the injury. A previous surgeon had advised that no intervention was needed and that I should simply clean and bandage the wound twice a day. Wanting a second opinion to avoid a deformed finger, I sought her help. Her behavior was shocking. She insisted I wash my broken finger with an open wound, repeatedly asking if I wanted her help. I tried to explain the unbearable pain, and she cynically responded, "Do you want me to wash it for you?" When I mentioned I had seen another surgeon, she questioned why I came to her. Her assistant tried to splint my finger, which was neither bandaged nor protected. Naturally, I reacted to the pain, and she asked if I wanted her to cancel the appointment. I requested she explain what was happening with my finger, if I needed a splint, and why nothing was being done about my injury. She told me to wear a splint and wash and bandage the wound three times a day, then threw the instruction paper in my face as she left. As she was leaving, I asked if anything different could have been done if I had seen her sooner. She replied she didn't know and mentioned she had five other patients waiting, to which I reminded her I had been waiting for over an hour and fifteen minutes. She then said if I didn’t like her approach, I could find another doctor. I was so upset I asked what was wrong with her and why she was behaving this way. I should mention that I had an X-ray done, but she never showed me the images or explained the condition of my wound. After this experience, I didn't trust her and sought help from a third surgeon three days later. The new hand surgeon immediately scheduled emergency surgery for the next morning, explaining that the broken bone was infected and I could have lost my finger if I hadn’t sought another opinion. I brought the same X-rays from the University of Miami hospital that Dr. Helen had reviewed, or perhaps she hadn't even bothered to look at them.

She is the most inviting Doctor I've ever came in contact with for peds. My son broke his wrist she performed his surgery and did a fantastic job. Her staff is so welcoming. They explained everything thoroughly. I made the best decision choosing her. She is worth the 45 minute drive. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately I wish I could have been able to give a good review, on my visit seeing Dr Hui-Chou. I was looking forward to hearing her explain my condition and possibly give me better understanding of the diagnosis and solution. At the beginning the nurse Iris, was just not very polite, then right before the doctor is coming in the room i over here her talking to the Dr. Very unprofessionally about me and the way I have handled my condition for so many years. Basically telling her I was going to waist her time. Immediately when the Dr comes in she doesn’t ask questions, only said to return to my PCP for pain Medication and she will be giving me an order for therapy and an order to redo the NERVE CONDUCTION & ELECTROMYOGRAPHY to know if the carpal tunnel has progressed. The little information I received was thanks to the assistant Dr that came in before hand to ask me all the questions and showed me my X-rays. I have been in so much pain for so long, I was looking forward to my appointment. Never expecting to here, just return to your PCP for pains meds. I really felt like my concern and pain were of no important and not correctly addressed.
