I will start off with the positive The doctor is nice. Don’t give me wrong. my insurance had paid for the consultation and I was also referred by my PCP. When I got there, I felt very uncomfortable. I guess it was the energy that the doctor had. Again, she wasn’t mean she was just kind of on the colder side. I didn’t feel welcomed… My problem is, she didn’t try to advocate for me whenever it came to insurance. She automatically slammed The idea of submitting a insurance claim (she chuckled at the idea of insurance) and she suggested that I pay $10,000 out-of-pocket For a Breast Reduction procedure… I have never seen this woman’s work nor could I find any patient reviews on her. At least try to advocate for your patients but other than that she was ok. Update: I went to another surgeon And got a totally different experience than what I did with Dr. Shelby. I had an amazing experience with a different surgeon, and they actually advocated for me. Dr Shelby tried to bs me and rush me out of her office she clearly is very and I mean VERY Selective on who she takes as her patients. I’m glad things worked out in my favor with a different surgeon compared to her. If you’re using insurance, good luck! She prefers cash paying patients.

I chose this practice because of the doctor’s strong credentials and reputation, and I initially felt hopeful that I had found a provider who would take my concerns seriously, as I was not seeking a procedure for aesthetics. After my consultation, I left feeling less confident. The interaction felt somewhat dismissive, as if she didn't want to treat me. But she willingly agreed to submit an insurance request, so I chalked it up to being nervous as her actions were advocating for me. Unfortunately, the administrative handling of my case has been extremely disappointing. All of my clinical documentation was not sent to the Insurance with the first submission. After my insurance requested additional clinical information, the office failed to submit complete documentation, missed important deadlines, and ultimately sent materials that were reportedly unreadable to my insurance provider. This resulted in a denied claim that could have potentially been avoided. Communication has also been a major issue. Calls were not returned, portal messages went unanswered, and when I was able to reach someone, the interactions were unprofessional and, at times, confrontational. I have yet to receive clear follow-up or confirmation that my case is being properly handled. They have not returned my calls, my insurances calls or my portal message. This experience has significantly delayed my care and created unnecessary stress in an already stressful situation. Based on my experience, I would encourage others to carefully consider both the clinical and administrative support of this practice before proceeding.

This office will turn you down based on BMI ESTIMATION before even seeing you in person for the consult and taking physical measurements to see how your weight is actually distributed. I mean, I'm trying to get my 36H breasts REDUCED?! Do y'all not at all consider that they weigh A LOT?! This made me extremely uncomfortable and disappointed. As a medical practice, y'all should be ashamed of yourselves. Awful business and medical practice, do better.

I saw Dr. Shelby in January for cosmetic Botox and couldn’t be happier with the experience. She was professional, thorough, and very intentional about explaining the number of units and taking a conservative approach so my facial expressions still look natural. The appointment was quick and efficient, yet never felt rushed. Her nurses were also fantastic. I’ll definitely continue seeing her for all of my cosmetic needs.

During my consultation with Dr. Shelby, everything was very thorough and detailed. Setting expectations to be more on the realistic side. Sometimes it’s better to be guided into what medically would be best. After my consult, I felt very confident and excited, about proceeding forward with the procedure. UTSW is an incredible hospital and i truly love the staff. From the specialist I’ve seen to plastic surgery. I’m very confident in my upcoming procedure, and knowing I’m in the right hands. I’m excited for the change, pain free, and overall happiness. I know after this procedure, I will be left with the best results. Dr. Shelby, was professional, kind, and overall good vibes.
