From beginning to end, including some unforeseen challenges, Dr. Lu was professional, personable, caring, and came up with a treatment plan that culminated in extraordinary results! Because of these challenges, how he managed my case, and his attention to detail as well as his ability to think outside the box, he has a more than satisfied patient! Breast cancer diagnosis, double mastectomy, and reconstruction with silicone implants in 2010, fast forward to 2026, bilateral silicone implants removed and DIEP flap surgery performed by Dr. Lu! I now have natural looking breasts again and couldn’t be happier!!! Thank you Dr. Lu!!!

I am grateful for the recommendation to Dr. Lu after a previous plastic surgeon retired. It is difficult to locate a plastic surgeon and you want someone who is not only confident, but knowledgeable, empathetic and skillful. From the first meeting through my current follow ups, Dr. Lu has been thorough in explaining the processes and options for reconstruction surgery. He listens and that is priceless -- I have experienced several doctors who did not take the time to actually listen and empathize with their patients' concerns and fears. The surgery has been successful and went as described. I'm pleased with the results to date. The staff and team with Dr. Lu and UPMC West Shore were attentive, knowledgeable and compassionate during this process.

My experience with Dr. Lu was just exceptional. From the very first time I seen him before her got into his office where he now, he was just so wonderful. He told me everything about the pros and cons of each reconstructive surgeries that he did for the breast. Took me a bit to convince myself that I knew what one was right for me. When I started to doctor with him the first time, he was such a wonderful person. I had a total of 3 surgeries woth form the very first one to the last, he was right there making sure everything was good. Great hospitality from him and his surgical team. They all treated me as I was part of their family. Thank you so much for making me feel better and look better about myself Dr. Lu. I recommend your work to anyone that needs it for reconstructive surgery after breast cancer.

Dr. Lu was my mother's surgeon for her natural reconstructive breast surgery. She had 16 lymph nodes removed in addition to a mastectomy. Not only did Dr. Lu do beautiful work on the outside, but he did amazing work on the inside. At 8 months out, my mother has no lymphedema, likely because Dr. Lu successfully reconstructed her lymphatic system during the surgery, a procedure that most surgeons do not know how to do. When people inquire about my mother's health, they often ask how she's "getting along" with her lymphedema. They are all shocked when I explain that she has not had any problems so far. My mother mentally thanks Dr. Lu daily for being such a skilled and kind surgeon.
