Dr. Fern is an amazing doctor and such a nice person. He helped my family member with burn care and we couldn’t have asked for better care.

I just had the worst experience with this doctor in the emergency room at Greenwich hospital. My 4 year old had a laceration and needed stitches. He does not speak to me about what kind of stitches whether they will disintegrate or if we will have to come back. My daughter again who is 4 is screaming a lot. He is agitated as he is doing the stitches. I'm trying to calm her. He stop stitching her and grabs her face and chin very tightly and goes "I'm not going to continue until you stop screaming". I had to peel his hands off her face. He did not want to get off her face. I did not allow him to continue stitching her. He said I only have two stitches left. I said nope we are done. I walked out of the emergency room and received a call from the er main nurse on duty. There is no way this is the first complaint against this man. I am extremely unsure what to do next. Do not let this man near you.

Entire interaction with him was a highlights reel of what is wrong with American healthcare. My 4 year old daughter got a deep cut on her face that needed 6 stitches and took her to the ER. He came into the room and didn't seem to care at all about the patient, only focused on the fact he didn't accept insurance and we would be responsible for the cost. Then proceeded to inform us that it would be $5000 for a procedure that only takes 45 minutes. Said if we didn't like his fee, we could "try our luck" with whoever was on call and tried to justify the outrageous cost by saying that some surgeons charge even more. He took a super stressful situation and only exacerbated our anxiety. Went to a different plastic surgeon with much better bedside manner who didn't seem like a greedy jerk.
